306 11. Text Layers
These options give you the exact same results you’d see when applying a
Caption Motion Filter to a normal caption:
• Fly In determines how the text will first appear on your slide
• Normal defines what your text does as the slide plays
• Fly Out tells the text what do to as the slide ends
The Motion and Follow filters apply to the actual “box” that holds your text.
Similar to Caption Motion Filters, Text Layers Motion Filters determine
how the box holding your text first appears on your slide (such as Fade In),
what it does during the slide, and what happens to it at the end of the slide.
Follow Filters are a specific type of Motion effect that you can use when
you have multiple layers on a slide. Unlike the other filters, Follow Filters
are not pre-determined. Instead, they’re more like shortcuts you can use to
affect one layer’s motion based on what another layer is doing. You'll learn
much more about Motion and Follow Filters in Chapter 15,
Filters are another example of just how many more creative options you
have using Text Layer versus a standard caption, especially when you
combine Filters with Text Effects and Layer Effects, and really start
customizing your Text Layers.
