Filters
Filters are another type of built-in, ready-made effect. Unlike Slide Styles
(which are applied to the entire slide), Filters are applied to individual
layers and captions within the slide. When working with images or videos,
Layer Filters apply Adjustment effects that create looks similar to what
you’ll find using Instagram or other smart phone photo filters.
Motion Filters are pre-defined motion paths/behaviors that you can apply
to the layers and captions that appear in a slide. These filters specifically
determine how content: first appears on your slide (such as how an object
Fades In), what it does during the slide, and what happens to it at the end of
the slide.
Follow Filters are a specific type of Motion effect that you can employ
when you have multiple layers on a slide. Unlike the other filters, Follow
Filters are not pre-determined. Instead, they’re more like shortcuts you can
use to affect one layer’s motion based on what another layer is doing.
Follow Filters will be covered in greater detail in Chapter 15, Motion.
Filters can be used on their own, or you can start with a Filter, and add
further customization using the other Adjustment and Motion tools.
